Although "Post 98, China Contemporary Supreme-Medium-Artworks Exhibition" is presented to the public as an exhibition, it is actually being carried out in a dramatic way. The exhibition itself is the drama, a farce. Flawed methods, exaggerated languages and faked identities all make the lie busted within a minute. Attending to the exhibition becomes a part of ā€œwatching the drama.ā€ The exhibition has been disguised as the stage, while languages and images have been transformed into main characters. The audiences are clearly aware that the place they entered is a theatre instead of galleries or art spaces.


    This ā€œdrama within a dramaā€ trick isnā€™t new for the audiences, but it might seem pretty political that the event takes place in the academic system, and the audiences are targeted groups of people. Yes, I am intentionally conveying some messages by using this kind of operation. First, in general concepts, 8 1/2 art space is not a quite ideal place for exhibition. Truly, it isnā€™t that ideal concerning the reality, however, if this art space is just used for moving in an out the artworks, for me, it is really a pity and quite boring, so I hope to bring out new methods and imaginations to this place. Second, I feel sad for those fellows who want to dedicate themselves to artistic creations, because from the rate of both graduation and occupation, we can understand that the sources and available jobs are apparently less than other occupations. Being not welcomed and with the incomplete social structure, contemporary has been high and dry in Taiwan; it concerns about the ideology in both the region and the society, and also, how a disrespected and disregarded cultural field can enhance its characteristics and seize the resources and chances to develop is another issue I would like to draw peopleā€™s attention to. Compare the controversial issue about ECFA to contemporary art in Taiwan, it does have a lot of similarities, and that is what inspired this exhibition. According to the development of ECFA in the society, the future of contemporary art in this island will beā€¦?
